School Board Organization
Membership: The five member Board of School Trustees (school board) is elected to serve overlapping four year terms. The school district is divided into four regions with one at large district. School board members reside in the school district and are elected in the November general election.
Function: The function of the Board of School Trustees is to establish school policies, adopt an operating budget and tax rate for the school district, and authorize the expenditure of funds from the approved budget. The board also acts upon recommendations of the Superintendent of Schools on a wide variety of topics, including personnel matters, curriculum issues, facility needs, transportation, school/community relations, etc.
Meetings: Business meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Meetings are held at the Educational Services Center at 700 N. Broadway Street unless otherwise advertised. Notice of school board meetings is posted in the Daily Reporter.
Special Meetings, public hearings, and work sessions on various subjects are scheduled as needed.
