Greenfield-Central Announces Summer School Informaion
|
Greenfield-Central High School will offer a variety of courses during
the summer school program provided there is sufficient enrollment in
these courses. Summer School will tentatively begin on
Wednesday, May 30, 2012 and end
on Tuesday, June 26. The summer school dates are subject to change
pending make-up school Days that may need to be added to the end of the
school year due to bad weather. The attached form must be turned in with
$30.00 cash or
check made payable to Greenfield-Central High School. The hours for
summer school will be 8:00 a.m.
to 12:00 p.m. each day. Before any student
signs up for a summer school course he/she, along with the student’s
parent/guardian, should carefully read the attendance and student
behavior guidelines. Students will be permitted to miss two (2) full
days or the equivalent of eight (8) hours of instruction. The ninth
(9th) hour of absence automatically results in a student being withdrawn
from summer school. Students and parents should be aware that there will
BE no distinctions made between excused and unexcused absences during
summer school. Tardies to class also
may lead to a student being withdrawn. A student will be considered
tardy if he/she is not seated up to 10 minutes after the bell has rung.
If a student arrives after the ten-minute mark, he/she will be counted
as being absent for two hours. Also, three (3) tardies will count as
four (4) hours absence. Overall, students are allowed to miss an
equivalent of eight (8) hours of summer school without losing credit. Summer school is
offered to students as an extra opportunity to catch-up on credits or to
enhance a student’s educational program. Summer school enrollment is a
privilege. Disruptive behavior or failure to follow summer school rules
will not be tolerated. Any student who is asked to leave a class for bad
behavior or any student who violates a summer school rule will be
withdrawn from summer school on the first offense.
The Greenfield-Central
Community School Corporation Student Discipline Policy is in effect
during summer school hours. Students will not be allowed to wear jewelry
during Summer PE. All jewelry is to be removed each day prior to
participation. All students will swim as a part of the Summer PE
curriculum. Please keep in mind that summer school is contingent
upon enrollment and staffing. Courses may be eliminated without notice.
